4G's Revamps The Chapel School Website

The Chapel School is a private Lutheran school for grades Preschool through 8th.
Last year The Chapel School, located in Bronxville New York, designed a new brochure mailer. It was full-color on heavy stock paper and a significant investment. They had a professional photographer take photos for it and hired a copywriter for the wording. What they ended up with was a highly professional look and branding.

It was immediately clear that the old website did not reflect the image they had just invested so much money into creating. So they started looking for a web designer that could transfer the new brochure image to their website without breaking the bank.
Chuck Gray, owner of 4G's, will be redesigning The Chapel School website. He has two children in collage and 2 more at Chapel. All of his children went or are currently going to The Chapel School so it made sense that Chuck would seek out the administrators to ask for the opportunity to redesign their website.
During his consultation Chuck showed us how we could use the new site to take our schools image to the next level by adding multi-media and other technologies to continue educating our students after the final bell had rung.“This has been one of my biggest undertakings so far. When the site is completed there will be close to 100 pages of content sectioned and categorized. The challenge has been to decide what stays and what is no longer needed. Sometimes when a website has been active for many years there is a tendency to collect information that is no longer needed. A website is basically a repository for information and like myself I tend to keep once important papers around way past their life span. They also wanted something they could update themselves so the CMS Joomla was a perfect fit for them.”

Chuck says another challenge has been making the site intuitive.
“When you have a lot of sections and categories to a site they will inevitably overlap by subject and the challenge is making sure you have a design that will get the visitor to the information they seek with a minimum of clicking.”
Although 4G's offers a Do-It-Yourself package it was clear that this was a job that requierd more time and expertise than the staff at Chapel could offer the project.
Estimated completion of this project is scheduled for March 2010.
